[QUOTE=buaan,Jul 23 2010, 02:53 AM] It's not all doom and gloom with university leavers, not every student has left university to become a bum.

I got mostly positive comments with the S when I had it. Only one or two negatives that I can remember and, as others have mentioned, only when the roof was down.

When I had my EVO after the S it was all positive comments strangely.

And now I'm driving the Z4 Coupe I've only had positive comments.

Came across an SLS for the first time on the motorway last week. Pulled up beside him, gave him a honk and a thumbs up to which he replied with a smile and a wave. Stunning car. Loads of road presence. Guy driving was pushing 60 I'd say, as was his Mrs. He was just pootling along in the inside lane secure in the knowledge that he was driving a serious piece of kit

"I work for Cunard"

"I work f uckin'ard too, but I ain't got what you got!"

Keith, stay away from Tesco, Maccy D/BPs and Sele Farm Estate and you likely won't get abuse. That's where we keep out quota of Chavscum. More comes to Hertford on a Friday night from miles around to ruin it...

Have to agree there.

Ultimately, the inflation trick makes buying a property a bit of a no-brainer; the idea of racking up a huge lump of debt and letting the gov't deflate it for you is the best way an ordinary schmuck can ever make any money.

As Mole say, powertiming it is everything. I pretty much got into the property market at the height of the K Wave summer boom (1987) made a huge amount & promptly lost it all again. That's actually what you don't do (but I didn't fully understand the K Wave back then [nor did chartists, apparently]) and anyway, one must live somewhere.

The post-war generation bought houses and lived on bread & water with no furniture for the first few years and cars were a luxury in the way a Twatphone is a necessary today. So I cannot really see that youngsters whose baby-boomer parents have got equity rich at their expense and are guilt-tripped into assisting them start, can really complain.

It's always been this way.

For those who feel forlorn; the tightening of lending rules & second downturn almost guarantee property (buying of renting) will be more affordable in the near-term. You just won't be able to get the credit...

Funny old world.
unless I have a death sentence

I will never be out of property

every now and then it's tempting to go liquid, but such feeling need to be suppressed

partner had such temptations a year to eighteen months ago

just as well I/she suppressed them

she'd have missed out on £100K tax free

I just wish I'd bought more property in December 2008
