The Beater thread
This is what my miles go on...
Was bought as a cheap tow vehicle for lugging my westfield about but I've actually fallen slightly in love with it!
It's slow, noisy, (more so since I put chunkier tyres on it!) but it has been such a faithful car taking all sorts of abuse!..
Not the greatest on fuel but minimal depreciation, only £300ish in maintenance in 30k miles and I won't be getting rid anytime soon!
It's a modern day defender that happens to be reliable

Wifey decide it was dangerously slow (ironic coming from her
)Seemed well built if a little "plastic"

Is a little plastic inside but 'acceptable' to me for the price point (second hand anyway!!)
Father in law has an old forester XT on the farm and it's fantastic! Needed a new exhaust so stainless steel one went on as cheaper than standard. Hilarious nipping about the farm loaded up with all sorts with the flat 4 burble!
This years winter beater, I got it from my nephew for a bag of Chipsticks.

Ok a new dilemma:
Client facing, 1600miles/month, All wheel drive, 4 door and large enough to be protective in case of motorway speed accident.Abs & traction control, Budget - under £2k (how much you can get a reasonable 4door skyline for)

Traced the last of the knocking / banging to a dead rear gearbox mount - for the princely sum of £65 delivered from Poland ..... 2 engine mounts and 1 box mount. Price here from Fiat? £150 - errr no thanks Tony!
Just thought I'd add my newish beater to the list.
BMW e60 535d m sport black/black/19s
Yup I'm in the coal burner club. It was a bit knackered when I got it but I'm almost done bringing it up to my standard. Had a rolling road done on it, 365bhp/532ftlbs !
it's had the dpf and cat replaced / k&n / swirl flaps removed/ thermostats replaced/ koni fsd shockers and just put winter tyres on it. Next step is more stereo.
Over all verdict is too much torque for this time of year. Until about 120 leptons, then it starts to grip! It's areally comfy and quiet car inside. When pushing on the 6pot actually sounds quiet nice! 28mpg and 180mph hehe
