Four Olympus engines at full howl, pushing a Vulcan vertical.

I cannot wait for RIAT this year (fingers crossed). I suspect I may cry

Swiftly followed by the Merlins and Griffons of course.

The Panoz and Corvette engines at LM were thumpingly impressive too.

That Mk IX in the initial clip is Merlin 61 engined. Griffon were later.

Same type my uncle flew 42 onwards over France & the Low Countries.

Have they finally got one flying ??

Saw one at Finningley a few years ago, well about 15 years ago.

No, hence the fingers crossed

XH558 has just had her second engine fitted and they're going hell for leather to get her in the 25th Anniversary of the Falklands celebrations. The main event is 17th June but there's also a flypast on the Queen's Birthday the day before - not sure if she's in that one though.

Then there's RIAT

As did the Mk X11, F/FR Mk XV111, PR X!X(Mk VC bowser wing), & I think non-elliptical-wing Mks 21,22 & 24.

To my ears the Griffon engine has a softer less hard-edged note.

And then there is the Avon powered English Electric Lightnings on re-heat take-off, a squadron of them doing a formation take-off once at Farnborough.

The Blue Note of a Hawker Hunter at 50 feet doing 500+ knots.

A Gresley A4 at full steam heralding its appraoch with its unique chime whistle.

Other sounds .......mmmm women making interesting ones at ahem certain moments
