You also need to consider that adding a 75kg driver to a lightweight car, like a Caterham, makes a much bigger impact to the power to weight ratio than on a heavier car like the S2000 and NSX.

My previous westfield was about 600kg and 190bhp resulting in 315bhp/ton.
Add me at about 100kg means it's down to 271 bhp/ton.
Add a 100kg passenger and it's down to 237 bhp/ton.
So fully laden up, it still pi$$ed over most cars I did notice having a passenger, esp on track days.

Anyway, I do think the bhp/ton should include the driver, say at 80kg?

Guessing the weight of my Caterham at about 500kg it's got 282bhp per tonne.

Difference with a passenger is, and feels **HUGE**.

It also handles differently.

Interesting that the Exige is 10bhp/ton down on the Elise with the same engine. Considering it's the "lightweight track variant" it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

The Exige S weighs a shedload more than my Elise too.

I never span when I was on my own.

Cheers Craig, you've just given me another excuse.
