Maybe; but in this case you're in danger of polishing your turd car

i've ordered it.

Nick i think you're spot on but on the Honda that mild stuff is fine. I think the BM has tougher paint, i'm making progress but it's very slow

Gad - you mean spraying a light clearcoat on? then polishing that? scary

Yes, you will probably need something quite harsh on BMW clearcoat - it's far stronger than the Honda water.

Although Shitehawks have a similar affect on it.

Pretty much, although a brush is all you need - but mask off the area to just outside the perimeter first

get a coat of lacquer in there

remove masking

polish using a block

re-mask and keep repeating the above

if you only leave the lacquer an hour or two to harden between polishing it will not be as hard as the original clearcoat and so it will be easy to take off the overlapping lacquer iyswim

Not sufficiently brave yet. Maybe try that on Nina's car

Ignore the comments about blobbing lacquer on it, it's just etched onto the surface, bit of bravery needed and just flat it with wet and dry then polish it back up. You'll be fine.

The only advice I'm taking so far is phishface's

Even with that abrasive conpound it's taking time but there is progress.

No way I'm braving sandpaper ffs. Pics by the weekend hopefully of a blemish free bonnet. Or bare metal
