We were out at a test day at Oulton today with the new engine. Great day & much the engine held up well. It actually appears so be a bit more powerful.

We also managed to get some lap timing in and to practice changing drivers. I managed a 2:10 and Lee a 2:11 (he timed one lap of mine at 2:08 which I don't believe). I have a broad feel that a good driver could knock 5-6 seconds off this and the next step must be to get some serious tuition. Unfortunately this can't be done at test days due to the no passenger rule and I might bring someone along to the s2k day in Nov.

I suspect we could be braver and get a smoother line through cascades, improve the exit out of the second chicane (which I did once and managed to hit the limiter in 4th by the time i approached druids).

There was some very interesting machinery there today including a race prepped GT40.

Test days are very good.
well done

sounds like everything is going in the right direction

you could always hire Chillled?

then once the car is thoroughly clean you could hire someone with a racing licence to teach you some tricks

.

I think at days like today it really sorts out the men from the boys.

We''re still boys.

For example there were 3 e3 e30 M3's who were incredibly rapid. Perhaps running 1:50 - 1:55. Granted they had probably spent >

The first test day I've managed this year was before the Brands race a couple of weekends back and the clutch let go in the second session

Still a useful time though, if I had a sensible job I'd do it much more often.

I'm just about to book the Friday test day before Snetterton as it happens and got in tonight to find my CSCC membership stuff on the doormat

Are you racing on the Sat? We're on the Sun.

What time are you on and do you have the timings for the future classics as we don't have these yet.

Oh crap. Yes we're on the Saturday.

Their not sending out the final details till after the closing date on the 30th apparently.

I've also entered the Sport vs Saloons race, I'm pretty sure that's right at the end of the day.

Bummer - we would probably do the Sports v Saloons race as well but I can't do Saturday.

Any idea what the Chris Knott sponsored race is all about?

The 'BARC Intermarque Challenge'?

I can't find any sort of overview and it's too early in the morning to be reading regulations but looking at the pictures that come up when googling it looks like an 'anything goes' type series, lot's of spaceframe type cars.

Some here

All the paperwork has arrived. We are racing quite late on Sunday.
We will have some spare tickets if anyone is interested in coming along.
Should be good as the Formula Palmer Audis are out as well Makes for interesting reading through the entrants nearly all live out of the UK. Hats off to the guy who travels from New York to race, you utter b*stard.

Interesting fact. We track all the costs associated with the car in a spreadsheet included are the total costs of everything. We can break the figures down into consumables, event costs and costs of the car.

So to the nearest pound who can get close to how much we have spent on the car to date?

We bought it for £1400 in March 2008.
I'll give you a clue its higher.....
