BMW 330
3.5 seconds at best at 100MPH is hardly pulling away like you hit nitrous is it?
Im just curious as to how you absolutely wipped a car that isnt that much slower, as per your desription of it, so I figured maybe the driver wasnt trying, or stopped trying when you reached speed limit breaking speeds.
What speeds did you keep pushing too? 100? 120? if the Beemer driver didnt want to get above 70 (and your 0-60 tiems are very close, within milliseconds), he may have been backing off, hence giving you the experince that you just hit nitrous, and absolutely flew away from him.
I would imagine 0-70MPH would be almost neck and neck, and no I wasnt there, but going by the cars individual performance, I cant see how you beat it to that degree.

They stack up very well, you've got the 3-litre manual and that's a nice piece of kit. Quoted 0-62mph times and top speed in excess of the S2000. Lots of toys and more torque than the S2000 (cue Havoc telling me that I'm now contradicting myself or something), nice styling, ride is a bit questionable.
I'm just trying to restore a little faith in the objectivity of the S2000 UK forum here, guys...

Just read this. And i'll refrain from the obvious.

The Z4 is growing on me. Still not convinced on the looks, but they're ageing well. If it wasn't for the cost, the run-flats, and the badge, it'd have been very close vs the S2000.
Matt...have been out to interview, come back, calmed down a little. I really like the S2000, and the engine, when in it's element, is a masterpiece. But it can be a little frustrating when you change up early to be stable and find yourself at 5,xxx rpm waiting and waiting to hit 7k where the real power starts. And people who say 'it's got loads of torque for a 2.0' do still, IMHO, miss the point of where it's pitched...against bigger-engine'd roadsters. Gearbox eases the pain though, you are very right.
I'm still very glad I chose it, and am slowly improving all the 'average' areas like steering feel and unprogressive break-away - geometry sorted and T1-R's fitted. Next steps are cross-braces and maybe braided hoses.
Heh, thought you might like that Havoc...
I don't want it said that I'm some demented S2000 fanatic.
But sadly I am.

My meaning probably got a bit misconstrued throughout the thread, I was disagreeing with the oft-repeated contradiction that can be found within that 'Car' review of the S2000 on the other thread (I'm getting a bit
here...).

The thread takes an interesting turn thanks to this post...
Not agreeing you but IMO the more thouight provoking stimulii the better.

Why is it that anyone who has a race with an S2000 is instantly a deluded, arrogant asshole?
You drive a great car, but there's some kind of superiority complex with S2000 drivers, apparently anyone driving anything else is an asshole for not knowing what a great car the S is. It's a phenomenon I've not seen on any other OC forums.
I've had the odd mini traffic light GP against cars I am never going to beat, sometimes it's just fun a good excuse to hear someone rag a nice car in front of you. Thumbs up, nice car mate...
Apparently doing this with an S makes you an instant asshole :S Ever thought it might be a compliment?
*dons flame retardant suit*

I think it [racing other cars] boils down to this:
Some cars are built for speed some aren't
Some cars go fast some don't.
IMO, and using one crude measure, anything slower than, say 0-60 > 7.5s is not a car built for speed, nor is it fast.
If it's not built for speed then why buy it to attempt to drive fast, race, goad etc?
There are a few distinct types of situations when people are attempting to race.
1. The obvious one, side by side. Ends up with a little play but nothing more. Usually a nod from the other driver
2. May initially appear to be situation .1. but driver makes a silly manouvre, doesn't give the nod. Usually the silly manouvre occurs after you have anhiliated the other car.
3. The more sinister one. You are not racing but are making progress. Someone doesn't like it and tries everything possible to get in front of you at any opportunity.
In fact almost had situation 3 today.
Most people fall into category 1 or 2. IMO no-one with a car <7.5s can fall into cat 1
as per my initial point. This is where the "nob" logo fits.

Sums what up Nick? I've re-read your post a few times but I can't figure out your angle in quoting what I've said. Not looking for a fight, just clairty?
Perhaps you think it was chav that I got close to him but as I said it was only for a split second until I realised he wasn't trying and then I dropped my distance. Some might see it as chav to try and keep up in the first place but when Boxter S appears to give it some in front of me I do want to know if the S2000 can hold on to it

I had to 'chop' the quote into my post, because someone else got in there first; I do think my point therefore got lost in translation.
I hear you and yes that was my point
I have and had nothing to prove and am under no illusions that an 06 Boxter S is faster, better, more expensive and more prestigious than an S2000. Would have been nice to see if I could have kept it honest in a straight-line - another day perhaps

i'm not suggesting i hit 100mph.
but if i did i would have done that more than 3.5s quicker than BMW nobber
that's him being more than 20% slower than me
seems like quite a lot? i'd like a 20% pay rise.. you can call it negligable if you like. but if you got one.. YOU'D BE ABLE TO AFFORD A BETTER CAR THAN A ****ING ASTRA
