Hi San,

Supposedly 2015 and it's rumoured to be more of a GT86 (or S800!) type car, since it's for the S800's 50th anniversary.

Nick

GT86 is a little under-powered isn't it?

Hope the new S will have a bit more under the bonnet.

The 987 is stunning. Hate it when people say, " the only reason you buy a boxster is because.....you can't afford a 911". That may have been the case for the bloatier 986,the 987 is a true proper handling sports car in its own right. Therefore deserves much more respect than it gets from the plonkers on Top Queer. It's like saying... You only buy an s2000 because you can't afford an NSX. Poppycock!
Maybe the Porker does purposely look to be clinical, to get Audi man to perhaps complete his styling. It fits in with middle class and is more complete than any of the BMW roadsters (just my opinion) for today's road. £13-£15k used with low miles is not a lot of money for a very, very good Porsche product. You'd have to be mad not to own one at one point.
I'm really taken in with the 987...... It'd certainly make me look richer than I am. (Oh.. Hang on.. That's because I can't afford a 911... Doh!)

My friend has a new boxster S. It's really a superb looking car isn't it!

It's a PDk with sports exhaust and full red interior. The exhaust note is surperb I'd really recommend it as a must have option, as is the gearbox. What really surprised me was how nice the full leather with extra leather bits was. I've had a little drive and it felt good I couldn't really push it as he only just got it and according to the handbook running in is for something like 1800 miles

Watch this space for post run in test

Sorry I can't compare it against a 2.7 but my basic morals would prevent from buying a sports car in pussy spec, i always go for the gti twin turbo ghia X type R model.

Can't see the point in 2K for the sat nav either.
Putting it in Sport definitely makes a noticeable change on the throttle making it sharper. It does other stuff such as stiffening the suspension, makes the PSM threshold higher etc but that I don't notice, I do however notice the throttle.

And on the day at Silverstone we drove with and without the PASM. I would have the PASM if it isn't standard on the non-S. I would agree about the sat nav. I know our Porsche is an 06 but God the graphics are so dated and I've not found it as easy to program as my current company beater. However in France / Spain, it was definitely better than our previous stick on sat nav but it depends how much foreign driving you are planning on doing.

I'm with Razz, always buy the best one. When you had the S did you ever think of SC'ing?

I didn't, but the car was plenty enough for me as it was!
