Same as most folk.

do me a favour
if riding a bike is the most dangerous thing you do/done
you need to get out more (not on the bike though)
is this sort of
what makes many bikers seem to think they are intimidating?

I don't remember ever saying that I thought riding a bike was dangerous
It seems to be other peoples perceptions.

did you mean that you need you need big cahoonas to ride one then?
if not, what exactly did you mean by mis-quoting Mark?
PL, I still think there is some myth surrounding the staement that there is no driver skill. Its like the S2000, drive it normally and it wont bite you at all. Same with the Evo. However if you drive it like I was, getting the AYC fully working, there is a fair deal of input and you are of course doing one hell of a speed. It will also bin you off if you dont drive the way the AYC is designed. Yep you can go very fast and be a shit driver, but to extract the most you do need some skill. You can say the same of the new Impreza's too, as thye have a similar system. I do see your point though, an S2000 requires more skill and thus more enjoyment as a result.
And at the end of the day its like the statemnt from Jackie Brown -
"Evo 8. When you absolutely, positively got to kill every mother****er in the room...Accept no substitutes"
It just gets you where you want to go as fast as humanly possible
I really think everyone needs to drive a fast one, by a good driver to comment fairly too.
Dont worry though, I will still be around for people to argue with on technical matters
Steve - I would have lovet to have kept it, but I really wanted to start doing track days and for one, I couldnt afford to do it in the Evo despite it being likely to punish everything (needed brakes / pads / hoses / tyres plus fuel costs etc) and second, I couldnt do it to such a mint car.
I have chosen something likght and more track orientated as a replacement
Horza - thanks!

Whan you ask people why they don't ride a bike they invariably say 'I would probably kill myself on a bike' as Mark did.
They therefore perceive riding a bike as dangerous and need a bit of balls to get over this fear.

It's partly knowing one's own limitations, I think; Most people can't drive a car properly, let alone a bike.
I knew one new-age biker who dropped his CBR600 almost every time he took it out, it was bizarre.
But if you've ridden a bike, it makes one a far better car driver, no doubt.
I've stopped thinking about getting another bike; every time I do, someone I know croaks. It's almost spooky.

ok
that would be (broadly) like fear of public speaking then
or picking up a spider
more about perception
although obviously you would have to pick a very dodgy audience, or a very dodgy spider, to face the same potential consequences of mounting a bike........

Half an hour a month on someone else's super bike is enough for me.
I rode a GSXR 1000 (05 plate) last month and that must be one of the
fastest things on the road.
Fear does put me off buying another though, even riding steady is a
very different world to blasting around in an Evo or whatever.
Russ.

DBM and others, is this for real? If it is, then a track day challenge for the Elise is alive from the big H. If it is for real that is......
