I've driven a 355 manual, and it's not a snick snick. But doing a metal gated dog leg box is an occasion. I imagine the 360 is much the same.

The reading on the whole Flappy paddle seems to be that the 360 was much better than the 355 flappy paddle.

FP's would appear to make more sense on track.

I think it's a case of try it and see. And lets face it, it should be fun whilst you do it.

Cheers Pete, yep it was Rich's I went in.

I'd bought his Subaru off him at the time, but known each other a long while

Should pop round and see him soon.

PS - you would be surprised how mine sounds. It's clearly not Fezza stuff, but the noise is really quite different. Bit like an tie fighter from star wars

Chilled - I didnt realise JL from BookaTrack had a 355. He took it to Spa!

My local dealer are quite good to me, so if they got one in they would let me borrow it for a good chunk of time i'm sure.

Just remembered, Rich escaped a scary bill when he sold his. I think he was relieved to be rid of it, but think he loved every minute of owning one.

You will get a great sense of occasion every time you drive it.

Noise is very crisp and will send a chill down your spine.

They are quick but a new M3 will keep you honest.

Not cheap to run, but it is a supercar.

Clutches on F1 don't last long.

Do not consider one as a daily driver.

They are wide and you'll need to keep your wits about you.

Harsh has one, I'm sure he'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.

He let me drive it at Donington. Yes, it's very wide, and it wouldn't go into 2nd gear (give me an s2000 gearbox every time) but it made a wonderful noise and I was laughing all the while I drove it. 4th felt like 2nd in the S2000.

The only thing worse than the "dog leg" gearbox in the Testarossa are the brakes.

They are pathetic and like to catch fire on a regular basis.

In fact, the whole car is shat unless you're going over 100 MPH.

Just don't try and stop.

But don't confuse more modern Ferrari 'box's with this piece of sh1t.

Manuals are fine.

The paddle-shift is the one to go for IMHO - it's part of what a Ferrari is all about - if there's the cash to spend.

The clutch in the paddle-shift boxes aren't long lived by all accounts - and if the previous owner has used the launch control (if it's on that model of course) they can have a life-expectancy of 30 seconds...

A 430 is not going to happen for me - unless my pension fund recovers in the next 7 years or so (I'm retiring at 55 whatever), so another 'rational' Ferrari may be on the cards for me - a Mondial T cabriolet (engine out for belt change on this model tho') or a transverse V8 model; most likely a or 328 GTS.

The 328 is easy to maintain - you can do most of it yourself if so inclined - the belts can be changed in-situ through the driver's side rear wheel arch and many mechanical components are cheap compared to the Honda. Brakes are ATE (same as fitted to BMW and other German tackle). It's only the real specialised stuff - glass, body panels, trim etc that is eye-wateringly expensive.

The early V8 cars are getting more sought after. The 308 GT4s, once derided, are fetching big money now - it's the only Bertone designed Ferrari and very Stratos-esque - as most went the white sock wearers and they deteriorated. The few that are left in good condition are in demand.

The Mondial is hugely underrated and will go the same way IMHO. A four seater (at a pinch...) mid-engined coup

I was in the local Fez dealer and they are keen to get me into a 360 for a test drive. The initial comments I had are:

It is a BIG car
The sports setas hurt my hip but the standard ones are good
The spectacle of it is good
The sound is very good
The annual service is
