Otherwise you're doing sommet very wrong old son
That Cayenne may be quick, but they have shit for brakes and look ugly. In the real world, my CRV does just as good a job.
The car/driver ability question really make me chuckle.
On the road, it's more about who will take the most risk... certainly on the twisties. The track can be an interesting comparison with some unwelcome conclusions.
For example, I've...
- had a 911 driver come up to me in the pits demanding to know what I had done to my S2000. It was stock. He thought his car was far superior to the S2000. He was wrong.
- had a driving god mate on his first track day who was a little sheepish after I overtook his caterham in my Lotus and then lapped him again before finishing my session. He thought he was a great driver. He was wrong.
- seen a rover 111 track beater that made every other car on a track day at Bedford look stupid. Great driver and track prepped car.
But, end of the day. Who gives a shit!?!
Take Mr and Mrs Muttley. One of the slowest S2000s I've seen on the track, but they go to all the bloody track days and have a great time.
Take me and my S2000. Yes, my Elise is insane in how it can get around a corner, but the S2000 was not bad and I loved every minute of it.
I reckon MQ should get her S2000 on a track. I reckon she'd love it.

Still agree its ugly though
Had a drive in the new Cayman S 3.4 with PDK gearbox and launch control
Man that is just insane, doing 4.9 second 0-60's

Still they have tweaked the 3.4 engine up to 320hp and improved the fuel efficiency and reduced the co2 to 223g so now not in the top tax bracket.
Nice free day out

I would beg to differ, had a couple fast lap rides on Monday round the new Porsche short handling circuit at Silverstone, it performed incredibly well considering its size but then it had an expert at the wheel.
Keeping it going around the track with all the suspension tricks doing their business is one thing... but stopping it is another.
But the CRV comment was tongue in cheek!

Would imagine that I have done more runs than a lot of the men and most of the women on here this year too.
Posted this thread as I was genuinely interested to hear UK Car Talk fans' opinions of the Cayenne. Thought that the similarity in performance with the S once rolling on country roads was quite striking despite the Cayenne being quicker off the mark and longer-legged.
The thread has gone entertainingly off topic. Tend to go off at a tangent myself but for once it is not my fault.
