i've never been out in a VX220 but I have driven the 111R and the new exige both with the toyota lumps, I drove the 111R pretty much back to back with the S.

My impressions were if anyones interested...(the 111R and Exige are virtually identical so this counts for both of them)

They obviously stopped and handled well, the Exige had semi slicks and it was really super grippy! I didn't think either of them were "that" quick and I didn't like the engines at all (especially when the 111R engine went knackered and wouldn't go on cam), i'd say after 2nd gear the S would be a very good match!

They are obviously very spartan and don't feel like a 35k car at all which did put me off a little bit I must admit but the looks and experience did make up for it.

The worst thing overall (apart from it breaking) were the dealers, fckin arrogant tw@s, I asked them three times to sort me a car out and i'd buy one and they still haven't rang back now 3 months later! Their excuse was, people just walk in and buy them (we don't need to sell them attitude) which I didn't like one bit and buy the time they had finished fcking me around i'd already bought the S200 which I saw on a friday night and bought on the saturday.

Overall I I think the S is just as much fun, just as fast, it doesn't break, handles nearly as well and stops nearly as well and I've saved 10k!

You're quite right, a 111R which won't go on cam is just as fast as an S2K.

I found the dealers a bit snooty myself, but I wasn't looking to start a relationship with them anyway, so just bought the car.

The Exige was fine and came on cam so I know how quick they are in comparison, the 111R came on cam for a while as well before it went knackered coming off a roundabout in 2nd.

Maybe they are all a bit snooty?

I wasn't really looking to start a relationship either but when a car breaks on a test drive you do hope that the dealers are going to be decent enough to look after you for when it breaks again.

I have never equated snootyness with helpfulness though. I can work with someone I don't like if you know what I mean. Never bothered me that much.

4.7secs versus 6.2 secs (both are OEM book figures) is more than a little quicker, yes. Then there's 220bhp/ton vs 190bhp/ton. The difference between a 111R and an S2K is like night and day in terms of acceleration, and handling. Hence why I bought it.

Try racing the next one you see in your new car, the performance figures are identical to your "fast as f**k" Porsche.
I wouldn't say the difference is like night and day to be honest i've only had the S for 7000 miles but it wasn't that much quicker unless i've got a quick S and that was a slow 111R/Exige?

It was faster in 1st and 2nd definately because of the weight difference but from 3rd gear onwards I didn't think there was that much difference
at all?

very true, the dealers were snooty and I guess un-helpfull or useless i'm not quite sure

I gave them 3 weeks to find me a car and I called in at least 4 times over that period as it's on my way home from work, they didn't seem that bothered about selling one?
