Default Civic type R or Cooper S?

Thinking of getting a hot hatch(not to replace the S ) and these 2 are currently on the top of my hitlist. Havent had the opportunity to drive them yet, but has anyone owned any of these 2 and have info on reliability/servicing and how they are to own. Which would you choose?

Thanks

Do you want people to think you're a chav, or that you've borrowed your Mum's car?

I think the mini comes with some kind of 8 year free servicing deal.

The Mini is produced by BMW and parts are therefore expensive. For example I got a quote on replacing the alternator from them;

Personally i would choose the CTR. It is more in tune with what you have at the moment. Even though they are built in the UK they are still screwed together pretty well. Bit of a biast opinion though.

I've owned 2 now and can't fault them.

Hi traded in my Type R for my S2000 in April. I had the car for 2 1/2 years and did not have one problem with it and i loved it. It was like driving my MK2 golf GTi 16v again. I would recomend one to anyone.

My friend has a cooper s and has had loads of problems with it. Most down to the dealer. The service from BMW has been poor and they have treated him like shit. The build quality of the mini is not a patch on the Type R. And the price of options is taking the piss.
It rattles like anything and sounds like there is a tea set in the dash board. After 1 month of owning it he had to take it back as the windscreen was vibrating. He found out on a forum that this is a common mini problem.

Don't get me wrong it's a fun car but if i had to change my S2000 I would have another Type R in a flash.
