De-icing - how do you do it?
You could fill a plastic bottle with hot water and lie it on the dash ( the heat rising off it defrosts the screen) whilst you shave/ drink coffee/shite. I did this back in the old days before heated rear screens.
1/ Get a better paid job.... and someone to scrape the car for you. If that fails...
2/ Get a house with your own drive, go start the car, fire up the engine, Heater, demist etc...
3/ With the spare key lock the doors and go back into the house.
4/ From the comfort of your living room watch your car defrost nicely... while enjoying a nice warm cuppa.
or 5... get a really well paid job and move to Monaco where it doesn't snow....

When I lived in a place with my own drive I never left the car unattended though. Too many stories of people cruising about with a list of tasty cars on frosty mornings waiting for people doing just that.
A splash of hot water and a swish from the window wiper, and I'm on my way. Easy.
