Is Diesel dead?
All you list (bar S2000 the hugely overstated problem of Honda suspension bushes) have been recalls, costing customers nothing.
The diesel failures are costing owners money.
I probably and usually am right, though

Any specific problems with BMW 35d engines yet?
There must be some high milers out there now.

and the other point that I thought was being made was that these 'diesel failures' are going to happen out of warranty
well that's a risk with most cars
the only issue I can see is whether a diesel is going to be more likely to need expensive repairs than a petrol car, once the warranty has expired
it's not easy to compare though, because diesels tend to have done a much higher mileage

Some dual mass flywheel and turbo failures http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/index.htm?md=802
i'm up to 140k from new on my diesel passat now, had head replaced and turbo rebuilt last year, will need new clutch and dmf this year
if i wasnt doing the labour myself it would been cheaper to get something else!! as it is the parts are paid for from the fuel saving of not driving the S every day

Most S2000 engines self-destruct before then
