Default Dirty Oil

I checked the oil on the R this morning and for 5k miles it looks really dirty. Last time I checked, it looked how I would expect, but looked almost diesel like black today?

Its a lease, should I get in touch with Veedub or just keep driving? Level is fine and nothing made me check the oil other than general checking...

The car doesn't actually even need a service during my lease as it's 2 years or when the trip tells you (based on driving style etc) and it gets a pretty easy life, but looking at the oil now after 9 months and 5k not changing it seems odd to me.

Perhaps they sold me a GTD in an R body.

You want dirty oil, it means the dirt is not in ur engine, killing ur metals

I've always preferred the "10K or 1 year - whichever comes first" to the long life schedules as you don't have to worry about dirty oil. I'd have a word with VW, you never know they might do a pre-emptive change anyway.

I wouldn't worry at all - if oil is dirty means it's doing its job.

Providing it smells OK and has not particulate in you are good to go!
My M135i did 28k miles on one oil change!

Curiously, my GTD at almost 7k miles has needed no oil. And the colour is still almost honey like, slightly darker obviously. It also gets a pretty easy life for the most part, and I've yet to top up using the spare 1 litre of oil supplied by VW. Weird.
It's a new car thing - they don't need a change at the beginning of their life these days.

Very strange to hear of a diesel with honey like oil.

When I've dropped the oil in all of the ones I've had, 5 miles after change its as dark and black as the stuff I'd dropped out. Strange engines

^What he said ! I once accused a garage of not changing the oil because it was so black after 100 miles.

Ace!! It's all vw lies lol.

My older 105 TDI is as you say, black as coal after an Edge change. Must be like tar in the sump!

Sod them anyway, I aint intending to pay for an oil change.
