I have zero confidence in the Elise at the moment!

But that's coming from 3.5 years of S2000 ownership, after which I was confident in throwing it into a corner, wet or dry.

Give me a few months and I'll be some way there in the Elise.

Certainly after the April track day at Rockingham, an Andy Walsh day and a few hoons in the dry, I am sure I'll be up to speed!

I was so confident immediately in the Elise, but I bought mine in summer. I went on a meet after 7 days and bruised the ego of their resident driving god by overtaking him when we were driving in anger on one of my favourite roads.

The S2K really f**ked me up though due to its pathetic standing water efforts. For months whenever it rained I tensed up and got all worried every time I hit standing water as I expected the Elise to do the same arse shaking dance that the S did. It never happened.

A couple of weeks in this weather and you'll be back to your old ways. And then some.

I have to say I haven't got my head around the steering in the Elise - I just feel like the front tyres are skating over the road and I could wave my arms around with nothing happening Exige felt a lot more planted. Just can't seem to get used to it !

Back on the original topic; when the S got written off about 2-3 years ago I got a brand new Z4 as a courtesy car (69 miles on the clock when it was delivered) on the Tuesday. On the Thursday we had to go to a funeral and some woman in a Ka thought undertaking in a bus lane was a good idea when we were turning left into the crematorium

Cue a phone call from the courtesy company wondering why the car was on a trailer (Tracker had notified them), several grand's worth of damage, me taped to a backboard and stuck in a cubicle somewhere in Yorkshire (?), and the car only about 3 days old

ok I'll say it.

That was a bloody sturdy jack, very careless to leave it lying in the middle of the road though

on topic, it wasn't mine but when I was 19 getting my fiat punto sporting serviced they didn't have any courtesy cars so gave me one from the shared alfa dealers. A rather nice 2lr alfa 156 sportwagen which was quite a big step up in performance. Had it for most of the day tooling around and thought i'd take it back the long way turning onto random back roads I didn't know. Locked up on some gravel down a single track road and planted it into a stone dyke, remember thinking it would be not too bad till I saw the top part of the wall falling forward to cover the bonnet. Was still drivable so took it back and picked up my freshly cleaned fiat looking a bit sheepish when I gave back the keys and asked to speak to the service manager lol.
