DVLA Registrations
Have a look at this document, 9th sub-heading down:
http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/numberplateinfo.aspx
Since my vehicle was first registered December 06 (and I pay the daft tax), surely I can legally have a 56 plate?
Even though I read somewhere else about manufacture, it says in that document registration.
I feel obliged to get a 56 plate just because I hate the DVLA

Will I be able to transfer a new style mark onto my old vehicle?
No, registration marks cannot be transferred onto any vehicle if it may appear to make the vehicle look younger. No vehicle first registered before 1 September 2001 will be able to have a new style mark.

Hyper's car is a Jap import and was registered in 06, despite being manufactured in 00/01. He thinks he can get an 06 plate because of the registration date.
Not the date first registered in the UK.
When the car is exported/imported, you need to give them the date of first registration (in Japan).
Otherwise you could "export" the car to France/Ireland, re-"import" it, register it and get a new plate.

That's my main gripe really.
