Default e46 m3 or s2000

hi. so recently i have been having a urge to change to a e46 m3. Has anyone on here changed to that and what are the upsides and down. I know its faster and more refined but does it lack in the driving experience compared to the s2000. Another big downer for the m3 for me is that im not a fan of the convertable looks when the top is up. Is it worth not having a convertible top and going to a m3 coupe?

A few have the E92. Someone did buy an E46 but non vert

The verts are heavy and flex a lot. Not a drivers car according to the reviews

I like coupe more than convertible, at least you don't have to worry about changing the soft top. not sure if this helps but I've got a E46 coupe and it's totally different feeling that the S. More torque and smoother ride but lack the fun factor of the S.

I was thinking about making this move about 6 months ago as I was beginning to get bored of the s2000.

I found a nice coupe e46 which was in my budget and took it for a drive. I found the performance to be brilliant! However it just didn't inspire anything within me. It is a very good machine build for its purpose of going fast and it does it very well. But that's all it does. I recall the steering to be like driving with boxing gloves on and the turn in to be a little nose heavy.

Told the garage I would go have a think and decided that the S did everything the e46 did if not slower, but was also much cheaper.

I still go through phases of being bored of the s2k but there just isn't anything around which I would rather have that's in my budget

i think the only thing to do is test drive the m3 to see what its like. Its probably a case of being winter and not getting the full fun of the s which is pushing me to change and the 338 bhp and straight 6 noise doesnt do any harm either

the 2000 looks just as good with the roof down and having wishbone suspension allows for a spectacularly low bonnet, viewed side on it looks....whatever the word is....

Life is far too short not to try all these things. Get one, if it doesn't work out, go and get something else.

Totally right.

If you're serious about an M BMW, it's always sensible to have an extra 2k sat in the savings bank for that unexpected bill.

If you try out the 'vert and the coupe, you would more likely find the coupe rewarding on your favourite road. Great cars.
