Default Evora

Looks good, but a little bit too much hint of Elise going on there for my liking.

Not that I think the Elise look is bad (I have one, it looks great) but I really think the Evora needs to be a completely different product.

Will be interesting to see how if fares in terms of sales and second hand values. If it depreciates like the Europa I might have to consider one!

Need to see better pics.

So far looks okay.

But just Elise/911

Its just essentially an elise with extra's, and creature comforts though???

And a 3.5 v6!

And a boot that will accomodate golf clubs!

Plus two rear seats, not for adults, but does have Isofix!

Toyota V6, 276bhp, 252lb ft torque, with emissions under 225g/km of CO2. Weight is around 1350kg.

Says in evo its bigger than an Elise, and 'engine and suspension are attached to separate steel subframes that are easily replaceable after an accident'. Inside is much nicer than an Elise, in fact looks very nice with more luxury rather a stripped out racer!

Hanging on to see what the Supercharged / Turbocharged version will be like....

Not convinced Lotus will hit the mark with the Evora, but I really hope so. It will be very good but the competition worries me.

The stuff it's up against is a more obvious choice for Joe Bloggs who knows nowt about cars. Bit like the NSX versus the exotic stuff way back then....

The Exige and Elise have a big share of the market and have therefore done well.

I like it, and see it as a contender when I chip in my Exige.

Probably wouldn't get one of the first batch, Lotus are historically a bit too fond of having their customers complete the R&D for them for that, but I can see me in one in a few years.

As Jim says, what is there to compete at that price? Cayman S, well I tried a standard Cayman when I bought the Exige, it's got the same problem I find with every Porsche, it's too accomplished and there's nothing left for me to do - so if the Evora is a 'grown up' Exige, it would fit the bill quite nicely.
Having said that, Joe Bloggs will still flock to Porsche because it's of a known quality - the Evora will have to do well on Top Gear and in Evo for the majority to take notice, and for Lotus' sake I hope it does.

The more I see & read of the Evora, the more I like it.
