[QUOTE=Subaru2000,Feb 26 2009, 06:06 PM] Power to weight is one way of estimating performance when you just look at the spec sheet, but it doesn't mean much at motorway speeds. You need power for higher speeds and I know 276 BHP will feel a bit slow to me at anything over 75 mph when drag starts to become a factor
When I had my S2000 in 03, the VX220 Turbo came out around that time, sporting impressive power to weight 0-60 and 0-100 times. I happened to meet up with one on an empty A1 and expected to be blown away, but its superior Power/weight didn

Actually, the 997 is commendably light and aerodynamic. Both corollaries of its allegedly boring shape (fashion victims again) and its odd engine position, allowing excellent packaging within a short wheelbase.
I think the usually-accepted EU measurements put it at starting off as 1,490 kg, which is just my side of acceptability!

Even though I loved driving the Lotus' I've had, I still get annoyed by their faults (and can't bring myself to excuse them with mention of 'character').
However, put me behind the wheel on a good road or on track, and the smile is welded to my face, there really isn't anything like the experience of a well set up Lotus chassis.
