Nope, it's a British thing; the car will be a plastafantastica bag of shite, but it's far more exciting than a Porsche could ever be. It's part-jingoism, part snobbery but mostly because the engineering is far more preciously elegant.

It's partially a similar illogic to that of Ferrari enthusiasts. Only it's prettier than a 308GT4, which helps.

And compared to a TVR, it is at least properly productionised. If only Lotus could study Honda's method of inserting bolts...

Is anyone else minded of Bill Mitchell's mid-engined 'Vette proposal of the 1970's? I mean that in a good way...

[QUOTE=MarkB,Feb 25 2009, 01:01 PM]That's mainly down to the quoted figures being for the cars without any extras.

For instance an Exige S is quoted as 930kg, but I can't ever remember seeing one with out at least on 'pack' which includes air-con etc. pushing the figure upwards towards the tonne.

I was unusual in that I wanted the lightest Exige I could get, and at 875kg it's still nowhere near the S1, but it means I have no creature comforts in the car except a CD player.

With a Cx of 0.0337 and width of 1.85, it's simply not gonna be much faster at highly illegal speeds than an NSX and not as fast as a Caymen, whose Cx is below 0.30.

I'd stick to the heavy german stuff; this car is so not your thing!
