Can't think of a reason to buy a Diesel if you're not doing alot of miles, the fuel is about 13% more expensive so it will take a long time to make back the additional cost of buying one.

Good estates
Mondeo
X-Type
Volvo V50/V70
Audi A6 (A4 is pointless imo)
BMW 5 series touring (3 series is too small)

Volvo V70 R or T5 manual is a good car for very little money and goes like stink too. Low miles means get a powerful petrol second hand for cheap buttons in the current market

Buy petrol, Boab's right, Diesels only make sense if you're doing a lot of miles. Or you buy a tiny engined diesel.

Legacy/forrester?

Bit worried on the Ford depreciation - TDCis may hold onto money better?
Find a decent one for 8k... even if you then gave it away for nothing after 3 years I would guess you would have suffered less depreciation than on your M3.

I may be wrong... but I doubt it!

Had a Forrester for a few months - a Turbo in fact - ok, but wouldnt buy one. A volvo still says old man to me, but I like the newer smaller one from the outside anyway.

you may be in for an unpleasant surprise Andy

for quick reference, phone a few dealers and see what they offer you in CASH

I'd be very surprised if you get an offer above
