Exploding battery
At work on saturday a younger workmate jump started a forklift truck with
a set of slave batteries, he succesfully started it but when he disconected the
leads the truck battery exploded in his face.
He was covered in acid, he got taken to hospital and treated. Lucky for him
he was not badly injured.
I have seen this before at work. Now this time of year a lot of us may be
doing the same but with our cars.
SO the most important thing for those of us that dont know is to lastly connect
and disconnect the negative (black -) lead to an earth point on the engine and
not the battery. (As it says in Haynes manuals)
This is to stop sparks which inevitibly will be created igniting the hydrogen
gasses that are being produced by the flat battery.
