Every time I read something about him it always says ... Stevenage born
That is a nasty thing to say about anyone
(Bada for Stevenage think Irvine New Town without the character)

Show me any media comment from the last 2 months mentioning he's black - I thought such comments have been conspicuous by their absence...
Murray Walker was interviewed last week
I think Hamilton and colour was about the third question
Can't for the life of me see why anyone thinks he will outperform Alonso over a season though
Unless Alonso suffers reliability problems

You could be right there, but certainly before the season kicked off that was ALL they had to say about him.
Fortunately it doesnt seem to worry or concern him , an honourary white guy .

I just couldn't care less what colour or age he is. If he's a good racer, that's all that counts. It'll take a lot of racing for me to forget all the media pish to date though.

Maybe if they got off the guys backs long enough to let them do what they're supposed to, they might have a better chance at performing at the highest level of their chosen sport.

It's the same British media fantasy that Henman will win wimbledon, England will win the world cup, and any number of British drivers will clinch the F1 title at Silverstone.

So let's not dismiss Hamilton as all hype. In his two races he's done pretty good, and the start of the last race showed he's a real racer, and we need more of them.

Yes but the hype to success ratio for Hamilton is a lot better already than it's been for Button over the years. I remember Button starting out for Williams and Murray constantly talking about how great he was, whereas in reality he was putting in reasonable at best performances in a good car.

He's a good driver (at least) in a very good car.
If you put Button in that car, I think he would be performing at least as well.
However, I do think we should reserve judgement on Hamilton's ability, until we have seen a bit more of what he can do when fewer factors are in his favour.
Anyway, he doesn't look black to me - he looks half black. I've seen (endless) pics of his Dad, which makes a change from pics of Button's Dad
but I haven't seen his Mum. Is she white?
Alonso may have to try a Hamilton on the first corner
