Unfortunately we don't know what is written in both Teflonso and Massa's contracts.

If, and it's a big if, there is a number 2 clause in Massa's contract, then he can have no complaint about what happened on Sunday. If it is the case then I am sure that he will be getting very well remunerated for it.

If there is no such agreement then I can fully understand why driver and engineer were so hacked off.

Kudos to both Smedley and Massa for making it known to the world how bad Ferrari still are and how Alonso and Ferrari are cheats still.

Cheating follows Alonso like a bad smell everywhere he goes. I am in no way surprised by the team orders.

I wanted to be surprised by Ferrari International Assistance perhaps taken a tough stance on Ferrari for blatantly disregarding the rule book, especially after Max Mosley has gone, but it would appear that Jean Todt is just as bad.

Absolutely shocking performance of F1 this weekend and further proves how much the sport is in jeopardy of becoming a complete farce.

After coming home from Silverstone, I was renewed with a new sense of excitement about this season and Formula 1. Now I just feel bitter and betrayed.

To be fair to the FIA, the Stewards have imposed the maximum penalty they could. It's down to the WMSC now.

Anywhere other than first is ... nowhere, this is certainly the case in sport generally and particularly true in F1. Ferrari know how to be winners, they also know how to be ruthless this was just an example of their ruthlessness that we were privy to even though it was not their intention I am sure, but as I said earlier it is naive to think this stuff doesn't go on ... and not just at Ferrari either.

This is why club racing is so much more fun for the spectator,no team orders , just individuals racing each other. And the racing is closer and not such a procession.

It really is like throwing a game.
What about all the punters that had put a bet on Massa to win yesterday?
I dont know what the odds were on Massa but I bet they were atleast 6-1 plus so potentially a good return.
I agree that teams have to play the whole team game but if thats the case allow team orders so the public know what they are watching.
anyone that bets should consider their facts

like the key fact in consideing a bet on a Ferrari driver was/is that Alonso was always going to be favoured by the team

if someone didn't consider that, and what would happen if Massa was leading Alonso, then they didn't bet

they are what is known as a mug punter

I can't believe this story is still running - or the hypocrisy being spouted by owners and teams who should really know better

Ferrari simply forgot the first rule of "cheating" (or, more accurately, breaking the rules) - don't get caught - see under McLaren.

They'll get a bigger fine, and maybe some team points removed (but not the drivers') and the rule will be removed within two years.

What's your view of the much cited outrage amongst F1 fans? I'm not surprised the incident happened and therefore can't be outraged.

I don't buy it

Any fan worthy of the description knows that team orders have always existed in the modern era and probably always will

I am completely bemused by the hysteria

it's as if everyone has just been told Father Christmas doesn't exist

I think it comes down to these things:

1) The fact that it was so blatant, unlike other similar incidents in recent years
2) The comments, tone and behaviour of Smedley and Massa
3) The crappy denials and non-comments
4) A sense amongst some (not me) of "injustice" with regards to Massa - "one year on etc"
5) Alonso is very much the media's new bad guy in F1, especially with the British media
6) It's Ferrari, again

More Sniff

There was delight in Italy this morning following clear signs that the Ferrari F1 team is back on form.

‘We ‘ave been very worried that Ferrari was not at the top of the game this season,’ said Frode Voluminosa of fan club Tifosi Inglese. ‘For sure, we saw moments of the old brilliance such as blatantly testing new parts and the calling it a “photo session”, but there was not the consistent rule bending and total disregard for the sport that we ‘ope for’.

‘Of course, there was plenty of moaning,’ Mr Voluminosa continued. ‘And this gave us ‘ope that de team still ‘ad within them the burning spirit to really insult the intelligence of all F1 fans and basically, ‘ow you say, take a massive shit all over the sport’.

Following the Scuderia’s blatant team orders at the German Grand Prix, Ferrari fans are filled with a renewed belief that the rest of this season the team will be able to lie, cheat and whinge its way to the top.

‘We are committed to a Ferrari world championship victory in 2010,’ said a spokesman. Unfortunately, that spokesman was FIA president Jean Toad.
