Get a life that's pure BS. Just about all the cases of unexpected rotation that I've heard of on this site are the result of in appropriate driver input...

This is the most ridiculous thread I've ever seen on here.

Randomly spinning out? No. Learn how to drive/weight transfer. Just because one doesn't know how to get the best out of a car, doesn't mean the car is inherently flawed.

An S2000 to a mini? Gay.

It can spontaneously spin out in treacherous conditions, and you have to tiptoe in the wet when your rubber is getting worn.

I can't comment on the Mini, so long as you're happy though. Its a small car with a big attitude, thats why they are popular and they are built pretty well. Terrible fuel economy though, low 20's due to that whining S'C. Its the biggest complaint from owners but it doesnt matter if its not gonna do 8,000miles a year plus.

You may be back in the future, I came back after driving and owning the best FWD cars in the world.. The S casts a spell on petrolheads you see
R56 is turbo charged not supercharged
MPG - you will see 43mpg on a motorway run. Around town that drops to 32mpg

Wow - there are some opinionated people on this forum!

I will consider myself villified for swapping my 2 seater convertible for another car which some of you seem to think is "gay".

Ridiculous!!

It is noisy and harsh, thats the F20c in comparison to say a Boxster block. But hey, apples and apples etc...

The comment around spontaneously spinning... jesus fella, take a pill. Its a car that has snap handling. So, "inappropriate input" at what speed then? Are you brave at say 50mph whilst cornering, on half worn tyres and suddenly hit an inch of water.. oh sorry, your amazing "input" will rescue you. Thats what i'm meaning about the handling. We all accept it, lets move away from that.
I love my S, I appreciate its shortcomings as its handling in bad weather is not as good as FWD, and especially snow.
So in essence, just agreein with the OP about the reason to sell up.

No one is saying its inherently flawed... its a summer roadster that just works better... in summer!

FWD.. Chris, it was the lowly ATR (ok, a larger version of the better ITR!)

Diesel patches and VTEC don't mix very well. "Correct driver input....." ... that comment makes you understand why we pay such high premiums for S's, and why many are trashed, cat d/c. Cocky drivers get caught out eventually in S2000's. There's one recently near where I live that has just binned his, I knew he had because I couldnt hear his AEM every morning anymore.

To the OP, let us know how you get on with the Mini and stick around. Did you see the video from Turkey, with the 3 black S2000's racing the Mini on the highway?....

Not seen that Video no.

Essentially, the primary reason i've let the S go is simply to save some money. My insurance renewal came in at a massive £1400 this year on top of the £245 tax and the need to service it every 9000 miles.

The Mini just made sense. Cheaper insurance, lower tax bracket, servicing every 20,000 miles and more mpg (on cheaper, lower octane fuel). I managed to get a '57 plate with 20k on the clock and a bundle of options for £10k, including a 12 month warranty (which no doubt i'll need seeing as it's not a Honda - the MCS engine does seem to have a few 'glitches').

I'll keep you posted - I may even post some pics when I pick it up!
