You'd be suprised, I was. I went on a meet 2 years ago and there was very little in it on the road, he was able to keep apace, and I was not holding back - redline all the way and driving hard.
I don't think there would be masses in it between a S2 and an Rx on a circuit, as I would expect the RX to be slightly quicker into the corners, but the S would pull away on exiting any bend. The straight line speed of the RX is the disappointment.

Lots of 2 door suggestions so far - just not going to happen I'm afraid, I feel a compromise on the Rx coming, just don't expect me to keep up!

Frankly, the only thing which fits the bill is an E46 M3 Convertible; sounds awesome, handles brilliantly, possesses an award-winning engine, has a folding roof, it's reliable... it's the closest thing to the S2000 in a lot of respects. Get an M3, you won't be disappointed!
Have to agree!!!

I've Just changed to an E46 M3 Convertible & have no regrets.

Only thing i miss about the S2000 is the 2 seater confined feeling.

Just hope the BMW dealers are better than Honda dealers

Thank goodness, the only two colours to avoid with that car (barring white) are Phoenix Yellow (awful) and Laguna Seca Blue (commonly known in the BMW world as Smurf Blue). These are colours made by BMW to be a bit 'different' from the norm, and for people to stand out, but I think they're horrid. Steel Grey is lovely, Carbon Black's a winner and Imola Red is rare but good. Estoril Blue Individual cars aren't unheard of either, and are well worth buying.

Looks a lovely car, Lloyd. Nice toys on it too

Hi

I had my S for 18 months (now KMB has it) and I've had my RX8 for about 6 months. I hope the opinions below will be of some help....

Performance wise the RX8 is pretty much equal to the S IMO. The S feels a bit faster because it is noisier and the engine is far more intrusive. The 8 really is a car where you cane it through a couple of gears and notice 1xx on the speedo and think 'woops'.... its ultra smooth and, unlike the S, you can cruise along with 7.5K rpm on the tacho for mile after mile if you want, and it just feels 'right'. And if you are cruising along with that many rpm on the tacho, when you bury the throttle, it really goes!! All this can be done in the S too, but it just feels like much harder work, and I for one never really felt comfortable driving it like that.

The handling of the 8 really is as good as everybody says it is. It does not have the raw feeling of the S - and I do miss that - but on ANY road A-B I am much faster in the 8. I throw it into bends with a level of confidence that I never had in the S (My S was one of the original 'twitchy' ones :-) ).

Oil consumption is irrelevant, so ignore anybody who moans about that. It uses oil, but so does any high performance engine. Some people's Ss use just as much as my 8 does.

Now the down side....

The 8 drinks fuel. You already know that. So did I. But I still wasn't really prepared for it - it can be painful having to stuff

I know this may cause outrage, but its nothing personal:

The E46 M3 is an Awesome car, but you become a schmuck as soon as you get in one.

Its not just me who thinks so, but it just seems to be the way. No matter what 3-Series you see someone in, they are the centre of the universe. I was actually behind an E46 M3 convertable the other day. Followed him for about 5-6 miles through a number of roundabouts and out of a few junctions. Not once did he signal. Yes I expect this from Rover driving coffin dodgers, but not someone in a beautifully crafted performance machine. I suppose therein lies the problem - 'Look at my car...Its a BMW. I am better than you' I'm sorry, but thats one of the reasons I love Honda. Its about what it does, not what it is.....

It's a shame that it doesn't meet the "4 Door" criteria though
