Yep one of my pet hates, f**king annoys the hell out of me. On wednesday I passed literally 10 cars with their fogs on in the space of 2 minutes driving, every one of them got coffee beans and verbal abuse from yours truly. It's always obvious when they're doing it intentionally as they put their side-lights on 'cos that makes it ok', but being severely retarded they don't realise that fogs aren't directional and dazzle far more than headlights. T**TS.

If you check up I think you will find that driving with your rear fog on, other than in bad visibility, is an offence.

Don't know about fronts - maybe driving without due consideration for Honda S2k owners!!!!!

Don't dispute that a proportion of offenders do it on purpose - dates back to the vintage days of the XR3, with its twin rear fogs - but sadly the vast majority simply don't realise they've left them on. Yes ... there probably was fog 30 miles back up the road but, being the dozy ers they are, they've forgotten to turn them off.

It's like those gits that hog the middle lane. How often have you passed them in the outside lane and then pulled all the way over to the inside lane only to see them follow you over. You can't help but feel if you'd never done that, they'd have stuck in that lane all the way to their destination.

Just shows you that whilst I suspect most of us take a pride in our driving, not only in terms of ability but also in terms of consideration to others, there are plenty of morons out there who don't have a clue what's going on and simply can't "read the road".

This is the tip of the "bad driving iceberg",and whilst I would always contend that it is bad driving that causes accidents and not speeding, the reality is that speed can be a multiplier in accidents and Plod obviously finds it easier to pick on speeders than he does to pull over all the Rover Metro drivers with their rear fogs on ...

Bring on a more stringent driving test ... clear all those muppets off the roads !!

What I don't understand is how you get 2 ends of the extremes; people with fogs on in clear sunlight, and people in fog with not even headlights on let alone anything else!

Front foglights are usually a good indicator that the driver is aggressive, but rarely dazzle IME. I regard them as an utterly useless aid and have never used them on any car.

Rear foglights DO dazzle and are very irritating.
Many people don't appreciate that they should be used in conditions of poor visibility - that can include rain, not just fog.

You do have to remember that foglight switches are often very badly sited, so there is some excuse for forgetting about them.

It's a shame, given that 'everyone' knows about the problem, that manufacturers can't build in a reset function so that they are disabled each time the vehicle ignition is turned off/car restarted.

Having said that, older cars seem to be the worst offenders.

I totally agree that it would be a good thing for the police to blitz.

Except that there aren't any police, apart from the ones manning cameras.

More and more are doing this now.

Trouble is the main offenders of constant foglight use often tend to drive older cars which don't have pushbutton switches for fogs...

I find that in the rain, rear fog lights can dazzle even worse because your windscreen is wet and it amplifies the glare.

with Fletch ... and it makes it harder to spot the brake lights from the fog lights.
