Something that is really buggin me this year, 'F1 is all about the team' I hear this almost every week, F1 to me has always been about the driver, I didn't ever care which team Mansell was driving for, or Hill, or Prost or Senna etc, I only cared (and I believe so do most F1 fans) about who wins the drivers championship, I couldn't care less about which team wins ... bloody annoying new development that is

Good, glad to hear that Webber is staying. He is a great driver and deserves another shot at the WDC next year...if he can unseat the untenable and uncatchable current and probably next WDC, Vettel who is just on fire and in a whole new league of awesomeness!

As Ron said earlier, I'd love to se Di Resta get a go at somewhere like RB. From what I've seen so far this guy is seriously quick and in the right car I think he'd be a hand full for any of the top drivers. However I think the only top team who would have the balls to take him on are McLaren. I can't see RB letting him have a crack at the golden boy or Ferrari letting him pull Teflonso's pants down either.

I'm sure that if the Canadian race was held again in the dry then Vettel would of won quite easily. When you try and get a car through the corners that quick with a small amount of moisture either side of the racing line then it doesn't take much to hit it slightly and spin off. I'm sure if Button was in front and Vettel was chasing him down then Button could of made the same mistake too.

heh heh racing driver excuse number 613 .... as I said earlier Vettel is in the fastest car and has a slower team mate, once (if, although with Adrian Newey at the team this is unlikely however) the car is no longer the fastest watch Vettel crack
Vettel's stats stand up with the very best -
F1 Racing have published an article this month...which covers stats from 1953 Ascari etc..
just as one example, Number of laps led in the first 9 races of a season..
2011 Vettel 78.9%
1992 Mansell 66.7%
who was Mansell's team mate in 1992 - the 38 year old Riccardo Patrese
who helped design the 1992 Williams championship dominating car, Adrian Newey.

Thanks for proving my point, with such a high percentage of laps led, ie not under pressure anyone can look good. How has he led so many races ... because of Adrian Neweys' fast car and red bulls 'second' driver that is how.
we are never going to agree on this..
I am not proving your point.. quite the opposite..
the 1992 Williams was perhaps the most dominating car in any season of F1.. the most technically advanced compared to anything else on the grid.. one of the reasons why many of those technologies were banned..
however Vettel is still exceeding Mansell's numbers. when also Mansell had no competition..
all drivers make mistakes when under pressure.. however you need to be deliver fast laps on a regular basis, and Vettel seems more than capable of doing that.. and he has been consistently quick from the moment he stepped in an F1 car with BMW.
his performance at Minardi (sorry, Torro Rosso) was rather impressive, winning in a GP and blowing away a much more experienced driver in Bourdais who had come into the team with 4 consecutive Indycar championships..

Winning for Toro Rosso was pretty special.
What is impressive about Vettel is how he picks up the pace when he needs to. Okay so he got it wrong in Canada, but he did respond to the threat and up his pace beyond his comfort zone and probably would have done just the right amount to stay ahead of Button with an obviously superior car/tyre package at that time. Same goes for those qualifying laps (if you notice from the onboards he still makes mistakes - maybe one day he'll stop making them and make everybody else look even more silly). In lots of different ways he is the heir to Michael Schumacher.
But as always the best drivers end up in the best teams, so it's hard to be objective. I remember 1988 as the most dominant season by a team, where McLaren would have won every race if it wasn't for the back marker crashing into Senna. Senna and Prost in the best car? Would anybody be saying it's just the car and they weren't any good?
