2018. They won't drop F1 because the Football monkeys will continue to fund it.

To be fair, sky will need to net only 250,000 new subscribers in order to break even.

Fewer than that when you include advertising/gambling revenues...

Grrrr, F1 could have stayed on terrestial TV after all, but Bernie went for the money.
Perhaps Bernie was concerned about C4 writing a cheque that he could not cash.
that didn't stop him when he made the deal with Donington for the British Grand Prix, which proved to be...a disaster.

you often wonder with Bernie and his deals with multiple contenders, if there is a bit of bouncing round the room.. "bidders" who aren't really bidders.. that certainly must happen every time he talks to a grand prix promoter.

Not really. Presumably he got some extra cash from them buying out their contract (much like happened with Brands Hatch a few years ago), and the BRDC got their act together and spent more money on Silverstone as Bernie wanted. All good for Bernie, and not really bad for the sport.

Sky won't back out, they presumably don't have all that high audience figures for any of their sports. A more interesting question is what will be the reaction of the teams' sponsors to the UK audience figures dropping drastically. Expect the teams to use this as a way of negotiating a much bigger slice of the pie from Bernie/CVC.

Quite a range:

I paid $1300 SD per ticket. Exchange rate is £1 = $2SD.

Lots of cheaper 1 day options though, and plenty available it seems.

Bloody hell, £650 a ticket?! They must be amazing tickets...I am sure it will be an amazing experience especially at night! It must be an awesome spectacle to see the cars so close under floodlights. Very jealous!

I am with you - that's actually pretty steep, mmmm

though would be worth it if you got a view of schumi repeating his absolutely outrageous power slide from last year..
