Not sure that's a great idea as Mclaren seem to be on a downward spiral right now...

Nice little fact "During the Eighties and Nineties McLaren Honda won 44 grands prix and eight world championships."

It's certainly going to be interesting, but they've missed 5 years and are a year behind everyone else. McLaren will be the team breaking in a new engine in 2015, when everybody else will have had a year's running on theirs.

Why are they going to be slower and unreliable? Some of the best years of F1 were when Mclaren had HONDA engines.

They should have come in with the new regulations for 2014, but they've obviously been dithering and missed the oppurtunity.
I suspect Honda are treading very carefully. They don't want a repeat of the last go at f1. They want to come back reliable and competitive, worse time to take that gamble is on the first year of a new set of rules so they're waiting till the dust settles and there is a proper sense of the pecking order.
That being said, they must be aware what they missed out in with the last big rule change.
It's worth pointing out that Honda have been building V6 Turbocharged racing engines for the Indycar series for a couple of years now.
(However, they are currently second behind Chevrolet!)

The ECU is made by McLaren.
