The Formula 1 Thread - 2013
Yes it was dull. Start was good, but once the Mercedes had finished going backwards it seemed to settle down. But Spain is always a boring race; last year was definitely the exception. But good to see the lack of Red Bull dominance on a downforce track.
Monaco is unlikely to be thrilling either. I wonder if the Mercedes can get the front row again and hold up the entire field for 65 laps and win?

I watched the start, and saw Alonso rightly rising to the top once again. He was fantastic again with some of his overtaking round the outside of Hamilton
I didn't watch most of the race has I had work to do to my car, but from the sounds of it I didn't miss much. At least Button was able to move up the pack a bit more.
When a team is struggling to keep a car that was fastest on Saturday in the top 10, with two very capable drivers, something is wrong.
The idea was DRS and crappy tyres to get the races less dependant on qualifying and aero.
So what happened? DRS means no point in challenging round the course, just stay close and push to pass on the straight. Crappy tyres means it's about who can do a Q3 session taking the least out of the tyres. Honestly Mercedes would be better off not running Q3, starting on the prime tyre, and going longer than the other teams.
I'm not normally paranoid, but when the team who's car is used for Pirelli testing and Ferrari are the teams seemingly coming out on top, something smells fowl.
Even 2011 was more interesting than this, because however hopeless it seemed, at least it seemed like there was a fight on.

You can't remember as far back as last year then, granted usually the Spanish GP is boring ... but never as dull as this one

OH dear, and this is how dull the F1 race was, not a comment on the Spanish GP, if you'll excuse the pun, 'says a lot really'.

Still no pun as such though. Dembo is right.

Sorry to pick apart your post, but you seem to have imagined an entirely different sport than the one the rest of us are watching.
Was a dull race though.
