Interesting article trying to blame Hamilton's lack of popularity on his skin colour:

So much rubbish in that article. And no mention of Jenson failing to win BBCSPOTY either.
I'm very equal opportunities so I'm not going to say I like him because he's black. I think he's a tool. Hamilton who comes from the hood (Stevenage) who could only just about afford to go racing....
I'm not from the hood and my Dad couldn't anywhere near afford to take me racing.
Infact his Dad deserves the awards I think.

Indeed. As the story goes, his dad worked three jobs to support Hamilton's early karting career.
Watching his half brother, Nicolas being interviewed on Sunday, was very interesting. Natural, relaxed, bright, no silly accent either.
It simply comes down to "out of the car, a bit of a bell end, in it a bit of a legend..." ©
Let's not forget that Button lost out to the charming Ryan Giggs...

I don't think average Joe like the fact that he earns so much money and seems to live the lifestyle that it affords. Guys like Rory earn similar, but somehow seem to keep it moderate in the eye of the public... probably because Nike pay him a few mill a year to wear their understated 'casual garments' so he's rarely seen in gangsta bling in public.
I like Hammy, hope he wins it, but equally, if I were Rory, I'd be a bit miffed that a lad who won 11 car races would win over me when I'd won all those games of stick and ball.
Oh to be a sportsman/woman.
In truth, despite what the pundits say, I doubt either are actually that bothered and wander if either will even show their face at the awards. Personally, I think if you can't be arsed to attend, then you shouldn't win as the 'live stream' with Andy last year or whenever it was was poor. I like Andy too and think he should have won it, but he should have flown back to find out.
Can you really see Rory / Hamilton making way on the mantle piece for the BBC gong... move over claret jug, I want this piece of junk in pride and place
