Right now 5 mins in P1 lewis has broken down. Its going to be interesting to see how many cars finish the race!

Quite excited by this, hope it all doesnt go flat too quickly though.

Still a sport massively based around who's got the best car.

Moto GP is probably still going to be a lot more exciting.

Well the Redbull pace was worrying. Merc will win this race unless reliability stings them, but looking forward to the development race the margin above Redbull considering their lack of running can't be comforting.

Bit disappointed with Magnussen. Back in '07 Hamilton was straight on the pace in practice. I know he had much more pre season running than they get now.

Maybe it just highlights how underrated Button is and how unfairly he gets called slow considering his benchmark was often Hamilton.

Anyone who thinks Button is slow knows very little imo! He's very much a top driver in a crap car. Until now hopefully Big Ron to the rescue! Has Whitmarsh been canned yet?

I think Button's got a good chance for the win. Mercedes will probably lock out the front row, but we'll see on race pace.

Alonso's also looked much better than was expected. And it doesn't look like being The Red Bull disaster that most thought / hoped for. Lotus on the other hand...

One thing that worries me for the race is that they're never that good at clearing cars at Albert Park, so if there are a lot of breakdowns there will be a lot of safety cars. Which makes all the focus on fuel consumption a bit moot.

Can't wait.

You are right Winfreak the cars sound rubbish!! Even Brundle was saying the cars are quick and look amazing but we need more noise!.

Just watched the highlights of practice and Lotus will be lucky if they make 20 laps. Brake by wire also seems to be causing endless issues with the cars stability under heavy braking. The cars look very twitchy on the limit, a real handful to keep in a straight line. I really hope the rule change doesn't cause a bad accident because on today's evidence it looks like there's the potential for cars to lose control alot easier than in the past.

I was really looking forward to the race but based on todays footage it will be boring. The incar footage is dull as dishwater.

I actually thought all the hoo ha and noise was unwarranted and irrelevant. But then I heard them and I did really miss engines thrashing. I hope it grows on me but I have to concede it's a big loss. They sounded like buses.
