Some info further confirming what you guys are saying.
Seems I missed the part about RBR being in touch with Mercedes earlier in the year.

For the sake of the hundreds of people working for RBR F1 I hope they can find a solution to this.

Really good bloke.
He had his back to me and I went to speak to someone opposite and it was only when the guy I went to speak to said "oh by the way have you met Johnny" that I realised who it was. Had a total mental short circuit for a mo!
Really happy to talk F1 and cars with me for a few minutes and seemed like he'd have been happy to go on but got dragged off for a presentation.
Seems like he's here for the day so may go and stalk him for a while

and I totally get why Merc wouldn't give their one advantage away.

 

I didn't notice. Might be another excuse to go for a chat though (although it might start to take me above the creepiness level of acceptable)

I thought the piece they did on his Brands crash on Sky was quite moving.

 

Always felt we never saw the best of him. Scared off a lot of the teams that had been sniffing around him when he had his accident
