Fuel Duty

Its mainly born out of frustration because all these petitions and any "political" way of dealing it fall on deaf ears. Nothing ever gets done, all that happens is things get more expensive, we get less in return, and makes everyones miserable as f@#k as a result.
Fuel tax is just one thing in a long line of BS from whichever UK .gov is in power. Makes no difference really. Either way we still get screwed.
You can't make demands from a system this broken, so why not get some pay back?

signed, but i think i've either already done it, or another one with the http://www.fairfueluk.com/ emails.
if no-one signs it, then theres not enough numbers for the government to be bothered entertaining it.

Politicians will never do what a minority wants, no matter how much they petition or riot. If you really want to change things you have to work on winning over the opinion of the majority, not the government. I think there's three big issues you need to address: 1. Obviously the government can't just reduce tax, so to reduce fuel tax means putting it up elsewhere, so you need to justify why there should be more income tax, or more VAT, or more something else so that drivers can have an easier time. 2. Will reducing fuel costs encourage more people to drive therefore making the roads even more congested, and 3. inevitably, the environment and the impending doom of global warming.
So there I've acheived more by encouraging people to think about it than any number of "it's not fair, something should be done" e-petitions will ever manage.

Thanks everyone...thinking a more overt approach is required to get people to sign it...
...far too many lazy feckers who moan about duty, but aren't prepared to spend 2 minutes signing it
