think it's pretty damn cool that the S comes 2nd in that race beating the elise, the SL55 amg, the rx8 and the mfx5 turbo. was a foregone conclusion that the CSL would win i think.

do you think honda gave the guys a cheeky wee back-hander

strange mixture of cars in the race though. wildly varying prices.

I saw the vid a while back Neil, but I was never convinced with the way that Elise was driven.

In a straight line the S and a 160 would be pretty much the same (as it appears in that vid), but on the corners the S would be left for dead. The Elise eats slow speed corners like turn 1 and 4 at Tsukuba for breakfast, so it's "interesting" to see any Elise being overtaken very easily on it, especially as easily as it is by an S2000 weighing 400kg more.

If I push further I appear to have thrown an invisible anchor out the back, the pedal gives a shitload more feel and the car very quickly stops. Even before I bought mine and realised how good the brakes were, I had always read about how impressive the Elise's brakes were.
That anchor wasn't working too well in my mate's 111S when we did a 1st Lotus day - the Griff, wedge and my S all pulled up in a shorter distance in damp conditions during the braking exercise, despite Andy Walsh running over and bringing his 111S out too (he thought my mate's must have been faulty ).

Most Elise's which are unservo'd apparently need a firmer foot than most to brake, but I found the 160 I was racing against the most very impressive indeed. Brake temp is important in Elise's though, I think. Mine don't work too well until I've put a good heat cycle on them.

I have to agree with BB... although isn't the difference more than 400kg?

i've had passenger rides in a mates elise and it (assuming roughly equal drivers) would sh1t all over my car in the twisties and I don't think I'm exaggerating at all. It went round corners at stupendous speed.

You pays your money.. personally i always hated the bare interior.. the S is spot on for me, not too bare, not too compromised.

I think it's 400kg difference between it and my car, but maybe 450-500kg for the earlier models.

Interior always put me off too, to be honest, but the 111R has made it just about bearable for me.

One can corner at the same speed as an Elise.

But where the Lotus holds the line perfectly, the Honda four-wheel drifts towards the cones.

It's quite entertaining to do. So long as the track's wide enough!
