Well it's been a busy weekend, lighting is now all installed and is much brighter but the real increase in light seems to have come from the first coat of the walls. I ended up going with the B&Q Masonry paint (£20 for 10L) and it covered it nicely using the masonry brush. However the pre-cast slabs are just too smooth and in the end a roller and normal paintbrush was giving it a much better finish. So this is it after one coat... (have to start on coat 2 tomorrow).

Still looking at that scissor lift but it might just be a waste of cash. Next purchase is a plastic shed thing so that all that junk can go in it and keep my garage CAR orientated.

Great timing for this thread, as I have just started my own one last weekend

I was wondering what to paint the concrete walls with, so the masonary paint is fine to go with and use a roller? I also need to get one of those plastic storage boxes for the mower and other bits.

I plan on getting some of this flooring for the car side from Costco rather than go through the hassle of painting it:

This is my project. I'm just waiting for the edging trim for the flooring to neaten it up. I'll also get some shelving for the rear, behind the car, when the old sofa goes.

Liking the doubleness of the garage! Yeah B&Q masonry paint is fine, I tried the standard emulsion and it just didn't seem to stick very well to the very smooth pre-cast concrete surface + there is no real difference in cost. I 'prep' it by giving it a thorough dusting down with a brush to make the surface as clean as possible but apart from that... Basically a smallish roller so the centre pieces and raised bits are rolled fast, then take the brush to filled in the angled pieces of the slabs...

Had a look around for a cheapish/good quality garden plastic box and managed to find this site. Reviews seem good for quality and service so going to try...

I did see that roll out flooring and was quite tempted, although would have to use some form of load spreading (bits of wood) and maybe some way to secure it to the ground... no more nails or something?

Thanks, some good storage options there. The argos one for £100 gets mixed reviews.

Ill give some masonary paint a bash then, hopefully that should do the job!

I wasnt sure how to secure the flooring, I guess no more nails would do the job, as you say?! Im new to this DIY

Adz9, I feel your pain. I was five years without a car and then two renting an underground space 15mins a way

I used to have to share a garage with my dad (just moved in to my house) and he didn't keep it tidy. I would clean, week later mess again! Ha.

Just bought a double chest from halfords, makes working on the car and bike so easy. It was a deal, buy bottom and get top half free. £250 for entire thing(offer ends tomorrow) & (pics to follow tomorrow) as well as another coat of paint!

Quick picture update... first use of the tool box and lighter garage and it makes such a difference. Enjoyed working on the bike to get her ready for MOT time.

Another wee update, gotten a lot more of the rubbish out of the way and also installed a cupboard from B&Q (1000mm) for £37 which I thought was pretty cheap. Unsure whether to buy doors for them or not but they were the pricey parts (£28 each).

Tomorrow will be the garden storage bin installation followed by it being empty. Also going to wire in the 2 extra double sockets randomly around the garage. Doubtful I will get on to the workbench, going to make it a low one so I can sit on a stool and work away happily

Afternoon S2ki guys, unsure how many people are looking but going to keep it updated just incase.

Over the weekend I managed to get the garden shed up and move some stuff out the garage. Also made myself a workbench which will have some offcut damaged bits of kitchen work tops from B&Q. It's roughly 900mm high so I will be able to sit down on a Clarke stool and work in relative comfort on any tricky items. The bench can easily support my weight so gearbox or diff should be fine.

So yeah here are the pics...

Tonight I will be installing the remaining pieces of the electrical trunking as well as 2 extra sockets and the relative wiring. Also I will be purchasing 'Keizan foam' in order to make some inserts for my tool chest (CLICK LINK), it's multi-layered foam so you can cut away and create the perfect depth for your tools.

The garage will then be S2000 ready and the main project can begin...

Finally finished the electrical supply, dragging that cable through the *conduit is a nightmare, next time I would go a size bigger than 20mm if using the 2.5mm power cable x 2 (keep it ring main). I found that installing the *conduit first then removing it all and then feeding the cable through was the easiest method, afterwards you simply put it back on the wall and secure in place.

Floor will start this Friday since it's bank holiday in Scotland so hopefully this weekend the S2k can be garage bound.

Only other problem that needs solving is the storage of parts when the s2k is apart, as well as the new ones that will be getting installed. Thinking another 1000mm Cupboards from B&Q as well as some plastic floor standing shelves which are just great (from B&Q again).
