SV650 would be more of a beginners bike. About 72bhp but being a V-Twin you will get more torque and won't have to ride the bike hard to go quickly. Cheap to buy, run and insure. I'd say it would be a good buy anyway.
The Trumpet is meant to be awesome, although there is some huge recall on them at the moment.
Personally, with winter coming up I'd buy an SV and upgrade in Spring/Summer.

I used one for commuting for a year or so.
Good starter bike, fun, comfy, a bit gutless above 110.
You might find one of these a bit on the small side though and I would expect that you would be wanting to change it within the year.
