None of them would let a new rider on a bike - I was secretly quite glad, as I would have been terrified of dropping the viffer anyway, and I wouldn't have known if the bike was knackered or not TBH.
Just went with something that looked clean and in good nick from the friendliest dealer (which turned out not to be in Edinburgh, but 40 miles away in Perth). Fortunately the bike seems to have lived up to it's reputation so far.

Just wonder whether I should go with a dealer or brave a private sale.

All way too expensive for a 3 year old bike when you can get a 1 year old bike for less than

Just be careful of " low mileage" bikes.
So many of them have been clocked and you wont be able to tell , trust me on this .
Theres a gixxer out there sitting in a showroom with 6k miles and it looks mint , its true mileage is in excess of 30k , poor dealer doesnt have a clue .
Make sure the history and service schedule is bullet proof , its more likely that a dealer bike is clocked ( without them knowing about it )than a private sale.
