Default GPS data logging

As part of the fun, and advised by seasoned racer GE2, i've been looking into various solutions.

Currently I have an HD camcorder clamped onto the roll cage. Great footage, but no data.

I'd like something like the Racelogic Vbox Lite which is a GPS logger and 2 camera setup, which does all the footage and analysis which you could possibly need to bore yourself with

It's £1300 though.

I have an AEM EMS and they do a data logging box but needs an external GPS and has no camera.

This one looks quite clever as you can use existing camera and it will synchronise and do the GPS stuff too.

Also talks to the AEM!

Or this which accepts any camera input and data logger. Not sure how it synchronises though as it's just software.

Any other solutions?

What are you wanting to do with the data?

Presumably you've seen what I've been able to do with my phone, which connects to the OBD2 port and a 10Hz GPS device via bluetooth.

The Torque application for Android phones will let you log loads of parameters, though we're not sure about lap times at the moment.

It will produce data only logs which you could sync up with the software.

I use RaceRender, which is about £20 for the all singing all dancing version.

This also may be worth a look https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id.Trackmaster

Some reasonable options for iphone listed but the gadgert to connect OBD2 to iPhone is very expensive as iphone bluetooth doesn't work properly.

I don't have OBD2 though Si, I have an AEM.

Really I just want to see video footage of laps with some timing data overlaid, and the use of the track layout function to see where your lines are. Anything else logged from the ECU would be a nice to have but by no means essential.

The RacelogicLite is great, but expensive in my view.

Ideally i'd like one box which does video / audio and GPS logging. Most of these bulet cam packages are a messy PITA with cables wires and battery packs all over the place

In that case, a smartphone + 10 Hz GPS device is all you really need. http://www.amazon.co...33538919&sr=1-4

If you look at my Oulton vids, you can see how I have it mounted using an old phone holder that clips into the passenger air vent.

Mark,
Sorry I didn't get to your gig last weekend. Hope you had a good time.
Family bereavement meant a trip down home for a while.

My pal always used the VBOX, it was excellent.
Stack do some great gear, my boss has it in the rally car.
Amber Performance could probably help you there?
