I know you're all gonna decry it, but that sounds ****ing AWESOME! Made my spine tingle, I listend to it four or five times. Easily as good as the V10 twins on a charge!

I WANT ONE!

I have to say that it doesn't sound all that great when played through the speaker in my PC here at work!

Maybe later on the surround sound it might do something for me. Still sounds like it's changing up too early though!

Someone's already commented on SMG on the Car website...

Sigh...

CLEARLY whoever was testing that (as Alex says, on a rolling road) was not absolutely flooring the M3 to get it up to 124mph. So the changes sound lazy because the operator is not flat out. It's like when you do a slower shift in a normal manual, it takes longer to engage the next gear. SMG responds to the throttle and shifts accordingly - hence longer shifts on partial throttle.

The word that came into my mind when I heard it was 'angry'. It sounds liked a seriously p155ed off car... and I like it!

Did nothing for me .. it just sounded "big".
Didn't have the TVR sounding grunt or the Ferrari high tuned sound.

But it wont with Turbo's blocking the exhaust.

No turbos on the M3... V8 is normally aspirated.

Thought they were blowing it with twins <fnar>?

In that case it *really* sounds pony. Too refined and sounds suffocated compared to other V8's.

May sound different on full throttle though.

No, that's the 335Ci, Bibbs.

Can't say I was too impressed with those clips when I heard them the other day. They just sounded tinny and rubbish, and I hope you're right about the gearchanges cos they sound terrible.

I'm sure when it's on Top Gear with some rock music playing it'll sound fine.

Ahh, gotcha - cheers.
Not really clued up on BMWs, esp the new ones.

I have a soft spot for the early M3s (E30?) and a hard spot for the M1
but that's about it.
