Yep in that case I will go AFM as well, had the same issue on my Alfa 156 a good few years ago. Very simple to replace, could always try cleaning it with some PCB cleaner. Used to work as a quick fix for the Alfa AFM not sure about the Mondeo one though.

 

You have to be very careful.

I use a cotton bud doused with electrical contact cleaner.

Not sure if there are cheaper parts anywhere for these or if you would be best just asking you local ford garage for a quote.
