Default Shifter Tick?

So every once in a while when i stop completely with the car in neutral there is a ticking coming from the shifter. If I press down on it even with only one finger it goes away. The same is true if I pull up on it even the slightest amount. Im fairly certain that it isnt anything serious but just annoying enough to make me want to fix it!!

Anyone?

(Oh and Merry Christmas!!)

I think I figured out the problem, with the help of s2oooNvegas. My new 07 motor uses a different crank pulser sprocket (reluctor wheel) and crank sensor. I had installed my 05 sensor with the 07 reluctor. This would cause the crank sensor to not get the right signal. All I have to do now is reinstall the cam chain cover, and it should get spark! (crossing fingers!)

I dont see how that relates here :-)

but 00-05 uses inductive sensors ( non magnetic)
06+ uses hall effect (magnetic) sensors

the sensor needs to match the reluctor and the ecu running it.
I was in your place a few monthes ago.

No prob mate,
I just sent it because it said when you pushed down on it, the sound went away as well.
Hope you figure it out soon!
