good comments..

thx for the inputs on the aero.. getting a test drive of a new one is pretty difficult anyway.. so probably give that a miss..

feels like 4WD is going to be the answer to this problem, I also forgot to mention it has to be big enough to tow the Honda..

Difficult? And GM wonder why the lame duck needs shooting down!

4WD? Tow the Honda; 400BHP should suffice!

Yep, it is 4wd

I was suggesting it as an alternative to the sabb if he wants big power and practicality at a good price.

It would easily tow the honda.

Kobe, why would your wife not be happy with a subaru? Image?

The estate looks a lot less OTT then than the saloon version.

I've got a Legacy Sports Tourer (Estate) which is essentially the same car without the ride height.

I'm very happy with it, it's good fun to drive (for a lardy estate) and an absolute doddle to tow with.

The Outback's a bit of an odd beast - half teh world is slamming their cars to f cuk up teh handling, whilst teh other half's jacking theirs to f cuk up the handling.

But the Tourer seems a spectacularly well-designed car for the money.

The legacy is fairly big though isn't it? bigger than a sabb 95 at least and not quite 300 bhp (not thet BHP is everything)

Is it just the image of the impreza that puts you/wife off?

My brother refused point blank to consider the impreza until he saw the estate version...

It's a Japanese D-segment, which means it's not really that large.

Nor is a 9-5 though.

Small enough to make a new Impreza out of!

Also, remember that Subarus are popular with the aristocracy and their workers, which means the petty (sic) bourgeoisie is bound to despise them!
