Default How to test heated door mirrors?

Just taken the door mirrors off of our Passat. Neither of them get warm.
The wires are getting power so I assume that the element mirror glass has failed.
Is there any way to test them before I go buy new ones???

Thanks
Alan

Test you are getting voltage to the heater elements.

If so, check the heater element continuity.

You'll need some sort of electrical multimeter for this.

If it's anything like my Audi TT and S3 they used to be on constantly which meant it was quite common for the elements to fail after some time.

(Fixing was just a simple matter of replacing the mirrors)

Seems a bit strange that both don't work? Might be a fuse?

With the 'Lude, it was the microswitch that went.

I solder-bypassed it so the ears were warm all the time, until I could get a switch from an Accord & make a new good one.
