Default HR-V

I quite fancy one of the early HR-V's...

Not to replace my DD, but as a third car

Don't get me wrong, my DD (Polo 6N2 1.4 tdi) is a great little car, I love it for many reasons, it's just not great to look at.

Always liked the look of the HR-V's though, ever since they were new, and still think they look modern and cool today.

They're very cheap now too... around £500-£600 should get me a useable one. Not so fussed about the mileage, but a 3 door version, with 4WD and I really like them in that blue/purple colour.

Thing is though, the insurance is about as much as the car, which I find bonkers! Any one fathom guess as to why?

Anyone have any experience of these? Had one? Or know what to look out for? I don't want the "Honda's don't break" attitude to warrant my purchase then it breaks

Had one, loved it. Easy to drive. Would have an other in a heartbeat.
Usual rust at the wheel arch. 4 door preferable.

I have one since 2008. No rust whatsoever. Replaced the clutch a few weeks ago. I cannot complain after 200.000 km heavy duty, towing trailers. Would replace it with another one if they hadn't replaced the 2.2 diesel with a 1.6 one.
All in all a rather good all weather car for long distance work.

Had the 1.6 130bhp VTEC one - threw an engine at 60k. Fuel consumption was appalling but then that may have been the way i drove it.

On a run - 28mpg at best
On a thrash - 9mpg.

Handling is a laugh but the interior is not as funky as the exterior.

That must have been a CR-V. He is interested in an HR-V
