the thing about a Cerbera is you know that nothing bar a Macca F1 is quicker

you can take on anything and win.....it's one thing I enjoyed about the M3.......making Imprezzas and Evos look silly

As they say, the only thing as fast as a TVR is another TVR or something suitably 'exotic'

The Cerb is something special - and you can pick them up with history pretty cheaply. Only down side is the sevice costs.

The do fantasic donuts too........

I think I will wait and find a Speed 6 model as there seems to be some doubt over the availablity of spares for the V8 cars?........

I am perfectly happy with my S2000 but I am terrible with cars.........I like a change from time to time and the TVR itch has yet to be scratched

Buy cheap buy twice !!! You are better off getting a 1-2 year old one any older and they have problems. Cerbs are lovely but not convertible !!!!

Bear in mind to account for about 150-250 quid to get a specialist to check it over. It really needs to be done.

I've found in my quests that the older ones tend to have all the early running life glitches 'ironed out' - a nice '98-'99 model was my ideal benchmark last year.

I think a Cerb might be a step to far into the unknown for me from what I've read.......it's difficult to know if it's a case that you only hear of the 'bad stories' and in fact there may be loads of Cerbs out there that never miss a beat.......

Generally they are reliable enough - I've heard all of this and reckon most of it is hearsay - there are occurrences with cars not starting, going wrong but these are generally cars laid up over winter and driven only occasionally (weekends here and there).

I was given the advice to use it as often as possible and it would be reliable. But again, these motors are hand built, and things can go wrong - usually electrical faults which is attributable to the fibreglass body IMO.

Remember - you hear in the motoring press about how the S is impossible in the wet, and how it is undrivable in traffic and so on so on, impractical for everyday use... I don't think so, and drive one everyday! And it's bloody snowing here!

You could try the TVR forums and see what the chat is from people who really know about the subject.

Paul,

I have also always wanted to scratch a TVR itch but the running costs all inc ie petrol, servicing has always put me off.

Love the Cerb but also really love the Tamora as well - Convertible EVO / STI killer.

A neighbour of mine has a cerb and I tried to race him in my old 280 bhp Leon Cupra R. Even with 290 ft.lb torque, I didn't have a hope. initiall burst he put loads on me and then was comfortably pulling away all the time without even being on full chat.

I on the other hand had my foot firmly placed on the floor and redlining in every gear.

These cars are monsters
