But when you're driving you can't see how ugly it is

I'd be interested to know how many Impreza drivers look back at their car as they walk away from it.

Hi all

As you can tell by my username I've got a Impreza turbo (it's going soon ,I've been converted) and in my opinion the S is quicker after 80 ish.
I had a test drive recently and it flew to 105 no problem , (before I actually said F##k) and slowed down.

Regards

From 0 - 120 km/h it shouldn't be much difference. If it is the old model Impreza it'll be slightly faster, after that the S2000 wins. But then the Impreza has only 218 hp. Unless it's a STi, P1, 22B or Jap. versions.

Just thought I would throw in my two pennyworth!

Ive had loads of Subarus and always liked them.

Mostly though the plain old GLF or L series cars, a turbo estate being the last car I actually owned.

When the Boxster went in for service (Chapelgate Motors) they gave me an Impreza for a week as a courtesy car. I was interested in this as I had considered one at one time.

Well I didnt like it one bit......it was wallowy around bends, and as far as I could tell, being a crap driver like I am, the speed and performance of the thing just overpowered the chassis.

Lots of what I can only call torque steer, and just a really unsafe feeling driving it. I was really disappointed because I really wanted to like it! I thought I might get one to pull a boat, but both myself and my girlfriend just concluded we couldnt see what bthere was to like about it!

Im sure they cant be as bad as that can they?

A friend has an STi V which is about the scariest/fastest thing I've ever been in - a very impressive car for

I don't know what you felt on your various Subaru's, but "torque steer "is not one of them on a 4WD turbo.
The new shape WRX is slow to 100 , Evo mag say 18.3 to the S2000 14.6.
That's a lot of distance at that speed.
It's also the the same 0-100 as my current Impreza, but driving the impreza, it feels quicker up to 70(which it isn't), but I think it starts to run out of speed coming up to 90.
The S2000 shot past 90 like it was like no problem.
These two cars are totally different animals.
The S2000, good looking, rare and fast
The Old shape Impreza , ugly , common and fast, the Impreza just easy to drive fast in all weathers and in all conditions.
If I had to pick a car to get from A to B in the fastest time with the minimal effort the Impreza wins hands down.
It's something I rarely have to do though, so I'm getting a S2000 .

The STi V (I believe it's the Type-RA only) has an electronic limited slip centre diff (in between the front & back). This is designed for use on gravel or loose surfaces. This diff can't work with ABS as it would try to compensate for loosing grip by shifting the power around, which isn't really what you want when you're breaking.

The STi-7 has an open centre diff and LSD front and rear. As the centre diff is open it can have ABS.
